Moving from Desktop (GUI) to Browser:

For me it has been a slight confusion as to whether Technical os Functional consultants are responsible for VERSION or other such work in Globus/T24, so with this in mind I have posted this on both Techical AND Functional sections.

We have recently move from Desktop to Browser (YAY!!).

However, this has opened up a new set of things to consider.

Finally my question:
Does anyone have a list (for VERSION, ENQUIRY or routines) that consultants have to do/take note of when developing? Such as HOTFIELD in the VERSION (ATTRIBUTES)?

Anything help will be GREATLY appreciated.

TIA!

Hi fatkat,

Going to broswer is good but there are couple of things that can be done..

1. You can use EB.COMPOSITE.SCREEN and EB.TABBED.SCREEN in the browser to display an enquiry in part of the screen and the version in another part of the screen.

2. HOT.VALIDATE can be used in the VERSION attributes. But it is best advised not to use because the template cross val is fired everytime.

Will follow with some more...

Hi fatkat,

Ya this is right, If you use HOTFIELD more than one time on the version then you have face performance issue so usually we put all validation in input routine because all the validation done at one time.

If you have Check rec rtns attached to versions routines do test those routines as check rec is triggered frequently until you commit the record.

A application running in browser will enter CHECK.RECORD multiple times during a transaction lifecycle. Any validation that must only run when the user first opens the contract must be put in the following

IF statement ---> Work Aroung provided

IF OFS$STATUS THEN ;* BG_100007114

END

Like that if you have coded your OWN validation for CHECK.ID in any of your Local templates then you can use this IF Condition inside the CHECK.ID part

FONT face='Courier New' size=2>
IF OFS$OPERATION NE 'BUILD' THEN RETURN

Please include I_GTS.COMMON in the Insert files part.
