Margin value in Security

Hi
Can anyone tell me how to calculate the margin values in security with an example?
For example:
1.i have created an account with amount of 5,00,000 USD
2.i have transferred IN the two security with nominal of 50000 each with rate is one USD.
3.After the tranformation, i checked the portfolio(SAM Record) and the margin value is updated as 4,00,000 USD.
I WANT TO KNOW HOW TO CALCULATE THE MARGIN VALUES.
