Segmentation Violation was created by Gordan
Hi all,
I am encountering a very serious problem, I hope someone could help me resolve it.
Everytime I try to login I get the following error and instantly get disconnected from telnet:
START GLOBUS Y/N
jBASE: Segmentation violation. Aborting
It happens even without awaiting user input on the Y/N question.
I have 5 environments on the server installed and one by one they all got affected with the same problem. Re-installing T24 helps, but only for 1-2 days, then the problem occurs again.
All the enviroments share one jBase5 installation -
Major 5.0 , Minor 5 , Patch 0132 (Change 54733)
OS is AIX 5.3

Gordan,
I suspect the problem to be conflict between the version of jBASE installed and the jBASE version for the VOC. After the re-installation, check the version of the EBS.TERMINAL.SELECT routine by running "jshow -c EBS.TERMINAL.SELECT". The version displayed should be the same as that displayed when jdiag is run.
Udayangi,
Run UpdateMD after the jBASE upgrade. If the problem persists, then your server does not support this jBASE release.

When I run jshow for EBS.TERMINAL.SELECT, the output is:
jBC main() version 5.0 Wed Nov 14 11:21:37 2007
jBC main() source file /source1/r07.004/AIX_jbc503
and jdiag reports: Major 5.0 , Minor 5 - for the release.
But I have already tried modifying loginproc to skip EBS.TEMINAL.SELECT and go directly to jBase, and I was stil getting the segmentation error.
So I doubt that incompatible versions are the problem. After all, everything was fine for a long time - until just recently.

Thanks Big_BJ,
It was a compatibility issue with T24 and jbase, previously I was trying to login to T24 (R4) with Jbase 5 which is 64bit and I got the error Segmentation Violation. Once I restored R8 data I was able to login.

Hi All,
Im getting same error after install product updates. I have installed AA Framework product update and now I cannot open new sessions. Can I rectify this problem without installing BNK again.
Thanks,

Yoshan, the problem in my case were corrupt libraries, namely the ones in the globuslib folder. During login the shared objects are loaded in memory and since some of them were missing or otherwise damaged that produced a fault in the corresponding memory segment. You need to determine which ones are the culprit and restore that folder from backup - not the whole bnk.

Try removing the temporal file
jctrl or jutil
under Jbase Folder, perform a search.
