AA Repayment Schedule Principal was created by JR1979
Dear T24 user community,
I hope this question won't be too silly for experienced users: what is the best approach to enter a repayment schedule
for principal having quarter instalments falling together with monthly interest payments.
Let's assume the loan should be repaid as follows:
2016 Q3 50,000.00 30-Sep
Q4 50,000.00 31-Dec
2017 Q1 50,000.00 31-Mar
Q2 50,000.00 30-Jun
Q3 75,000.00 30-Sep
Q4 75,000.00 31-Dec
2018 Q1 75,000.00 31-Mar
Q2 75,000.00 30-Jun
Q3 100,000.00 30-Sep
Q4 100,000.00 31-Dec
2019 Q1 100,000.00 31-Mar
Q2 100,000.00 30-Jun
Q3 150,000.00 30-Sep
Q4 150,000.00 31-Dec
2020 Q1 150,000.00 31-Mar
Q2 150,000.00 02-Jun
Entry as follows:
Type (Linear), Method (Due), Pymt Freq (e3M o31D), Property (Account), Due Freq (e3M o31D), Start Date (first payment date),
Num (4) and Amount (50,000) it always works nice for the first 4 payments. The schedule also considers non-business days and the monthly interest payments all three months fall together with the principal. So far, so good.
But how about a smooth way to reflect all other scheduled future payments over the life of the loan?
I can - of course - enter all payment dates manual (start date, or start date and number (1) and amount), either by expanding sub value lines on the right OR entering new payment types (payment.4, payment.5 payment.6 etc.).
I tried to use the "expand sub value" function in different ways:
a)- entering dates (Start, End) covering all quarter periods. Error message:
Schedule - Start.Date.3.2 Cannot be less than previous end date --> I double checked that the date is NOT less than previous end date.
b)- entering only start date (= first payment date of new period, say 2017-09-29, 2018-09-28 etc.) and enter num (4) and amount (e.g. 75,000.00). The preview of the payment schedule then shows that the 75,000.00 only due for the first entered date - and not 4 times.
c)- entering end date(last date when amount is due) and number of payments. Error message:
Schedule - End.Date.3.2 Both end date and num payments cannot be defined.
I just realize above description might be difficult to imagine so I should see if I can attach a screen shot or
could someone provide a useful doc. / procedure how to get most out of the schedule function in AA.
Thanks and best regards,
JR
