hello sir,
I would like to know under what circumstances Globus should be run in BATCH mode and ONLINE mode and also the differences between these two modes.

In simple meaning during COB/EOD process is called BATCH mode/process which is used to calculate interest and reaise automated transaction like STO. After completion of COB process is Onlne mode that is indicated in SPF file Operation Mode.

During BATCH stage,
1. Many applications cannot be keyed in. (ie. cannot have input function). But from G14,(i.e when T24 concept is introduced, i.e when EOD has been changed to COB), some applications (Approx... 8 applications) are opened for keying in the transactions even during COB.
2. Almost all the interest calculations for the various transactions (which has financial impact) gets hit during COB.
