Well, you better read the User Guide "Reporting" for T24 .
The quick answer would be:
the function of consol key in Globus is very important and they provide the basis to produce balance sheet and P/L reports. Also you have an opportunity to "play" with consolidated data no with deals.
Setting up of CONSOLIDATE.COND table is one of the most important thing during T24/GLOBUS implementation. The wrong or "stupid" set up could make T24 less effective and "hard to use" . Even changes are allowed after initial set up they could cause a big problems.
So, my recommendation would be "think 7 times before you make a decision" .
