Hi
there's no distinct difference between assets and liabilities in CATEGORY. For example, category 1000 may contain both types of balances (if an account goes to overdraft). Suspense accounts (14nnn) can also have anything.
For LD/MM lending and borrowing categories are divided into different ranges and it's hard-coded.
For P&L 50nnn is for payed interest etc, 51nnn is for received amounts.

Hi
Take a look at CONSOLIDATE.ASST.LIAB application.
Usually product category ID is a part of consolidation key. Looking into balances you'll see which sign they have.
